It’s been long overdue, but I’m finally taking a moment to reflect on the whirlwind that has been my life these past few weeks. In the chaos, it feels like one day flows into the next. Yet, I’ve come to realize that it’s important to pause, reflect and pray.
I am beyond grateful for the community of support that surrounds me. Without your love and generosity, I wouldn’t be able to accomplish what God has called me to do.

After months of anticipation, my brother finally made the long journey to come visit me. I’m so thankful to the Lord that he arrived safely, especially considering the unstable circumstances that began just last Thursday. The country has been in turmoil, with widespread rioting that has created a lot of chaos and safety concerns. On top of that, Madagascar’s government is currently undergoing several major changes. All of this unfolded on the very day my brother arrived, which meant our time together looked a lot different than we had imagined. Still, I’m deeply grateful that God made a way for him to be here. We spent many hours talking, and he got a good glimpse of what life is like in a ship community, especially since shore leave was suspended for the weekend due to the unrest. It was beautiful to have a family member catch a small glimpse into what my life has been like for the past year, and it was hard to see him leave. Thank you for the army of people who have prayed for the currently situation in Madagascar, we pray for a revival for this country.

Despite all the chaos in the country, the Hope Center has remained a place of joy. It’s been such a gift to be part of these patient’s lives. Most of the orthopedic kids have been staying with us for over two months now, and each morning, as I walk into work still trying to wake up, I am met with their excited voices calling out “Dorina! Dorina!” Over the past week they finally are having their casts removed and the joy and pride in their eyes when they return from their appointments and show off their new straight legs, it’s a moment of pure awe. We stand there together, touching their legs like they are made of gold.
It’s such a precious gift to be a part of their journey, to witness their transformation from pain and limitation to newfound freedom. As much as I hate to see them leave, it’s a blessing to watch them walk away with beautiful, straight legs. It reminds me of how a powerful act of generosity can be life-changing.
